Terms and Conditions of the Solidarity Academy 2011
1. Acceptance of the following terms and conditions is compulsory for participation in the Solidarity Academy 2011.
2. The Solidarity Academy 2011 will be delivered in English; all participants must be fluent in English.
3. Only the selected candidates are entitled to participate in the Academy. The organisers reserve the right to select candidates from the applications received.
4. A total of 50 participants will be invited to participate in the Academy: 10 participants from Poland, and 40 participants from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Russia.
5. Participants must be between the ages of 18 and 30 on the first day of the Academy.
6. Participants of former editions of the Academy cannot take part in the Solidarity Academy 2011.
7. The Organisers of the Solidarity Academy 2011 will provide all meals and accommodation for the participants whilst in Gdansk. Travel expenses will be PARTIALLY reimbursed as per point 8.
8. The organisers will provide insurance*(please see below) and will PARTIALLY cover the travel expenses of FOREIGN participants only. The amount of reimbursement is calculated on the point to point distance between Gdansk and the participant’s normal residence as follows:
A. Participants from Belarus, Ukraine and Kaliningrad Oblast will be reimbursed up to a maximum of 350 PLN.
B. Participants from Russia and Moldova will be reimbursed up to a maximum of 450 PLN.
C. Participants from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Kazakhstan will be reimbursed up to a maximum of 1000 PLN.
9. The participants must purchase return tickets.
10. Travel expenses for non-Polish residents will ONLY be reimbursed following submission of one of the following:
a) A valid ticket
b) A receipt confirming the cost of travel
c) A statement confirming the number of kilometres driven stating the odometer readings at the point of departure and arrival in Gdansk, and receipts for fuel purchased on the journey.
The total reimbursable amount CANNOT exceed the price of the ticket and is limited to the maximum amounts set out in section 8. Participants will be reimbursed in Gdansk, during the Academy. All reimbursements will be based on the exchange rate on the date they are processed.
11. Information about the reimbursement available will be sent to the participants after the recruitment process closes. The Participants will NOT BE ENTITLED to receive a higher amount of reimbursement than that stated in the above.
12. Polish participants cover their own travel expenses. The Organisers of the Academy DO NOT COVER the travel expenses of Polish participants.
13. Participants are responsible for obtaining any visas required. Participants are responsible for any costs incurred in obtaining their visas.
14. The participants are obliged to take part in all core activities of the Solidarity Academy 2011.
15. The Participants must take part in one of the following three workshop modules: the Idea of Solidarity, Social Change or Social Participation. Full descriptions of all modules are available on the Academy Website on the ‘About Academy’ tab. The Participants, when filling in the application form, are required to choose their preferred modules. Selection of a module in the application form does not guarantee placement on that module. The Organisers reserve the right to assign Participants to a module other than the one chosen in the application form. The confirmation regarding the assignment to groups will be sent to the participants via email after the end of recruitment process.
16. The participants are responsible for appropriate preparation necessary for the participation in the activities during the Academy. Such preparation includes, but is not limited to, the reading of all materials available on the Academy website.
17. All participants must behave in an appropriate manner throughout the Academy. All rules set out by the accommodation owners, transport providers, and venues must be adhered to.
18. The consumption of alcohol or the use of recreational drugs during Academy activities or in the accommodation is strictly prohibited.
19. Any participant not adhering to the aforementioned terms and conditions may be removed from the Academy and required to vacate their accommodation with immediate effect. Under such circumstances the participant agrees to pay in full for all meals and accommodation, and will forfeit the right to any form of reimbursement. The organiser will not be responsible for any costs incurred by the participant as a result of failure to adhere to the terms and conditions.
20. Personal data of the Participants will be processed and protected in accordance with the Polish Data Protection Act 1997.
21. The Organisers reserve the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time without notice.

The insurance is valid only within the territory of Poland and covers Medical Treatment Insurance up to 120 000 PLN and Accident Insurance up to 50 000 PLN.
